User Experience Research Program Manager

Research Program Managers implement global operational systems, connect teams and knowledge, and problem solve operational hurdles to enable Researchers to do their most impactful work. This particular Research Program Manager role will be a strategic and operational partner for our largest research team, focusing on improving team communication, collaboration, and removing roadblocks. You'll utilize a full range of organizational and interpersonal skills to help keep our teams on track, execute specific research initiatives intended to grow team culture and industry expertise, and establish great ways of working together. Above all else, you'll ensure that teams are stable and running well in order to allow researchers to focus on their work. The ideal candidate is able to facilitate our teams' best work by managing short- and long-term projects and initiatives, anticipating project issues and resolving them, connecting resources to research needs, and removing barriers to doing great work. A Research Program Manager is an expert in problem solving and multitasking, while building long-term relationships with the team. You'll utilize a full range of organizational and interpersonal skills that help our talented team operate at their highest and most effective level. This role requires project management experience and broad knowledge of research's impact on product design and development. Excellent communication skills, ability to manage complex logistics, and a highly organized approach are mandatory. This is a full-time position based in our Menlo Park office.

  • Ensure the team has the information and connections they need to succeed
  • Partner with the Research Director and Managers on establishing effective team communication, proactive problem solving, information gathering and distribution as well as cross-team collaboration
  • Partner with Research Program Managers on rolling out and implementing best practices within the team
  • Collaborate with the Research Ops team to establish team member onboarding and education programs specific to team's needs
  • Establish communication structure across the research team including best practices for meeting facilitation, sharing updates, and connecting with cross-functional teams.
  • Prioritization and Planning
  • Facilitate team-wide All Hands by preparing agendas, identifying relevant topics, and establishing action items and owners
  • Support research planning and allocation, helping align and forecast team needs
  • Track and move research initiatives forward that have multiple stakeholders and many moving parts
  • Manage research-driven initiatives that better define our workspace and our workflow
  • Create flexible processes that meet team needs and help keep the team working efficiently
  • Communicate issues related to staying on schedule and propose solutions to remedy the issue.
  • Creativity and Problem Solving
  • Proactively raise issues for the growing team before they become a problem
  • Create a communications strategy for keeping stakeholders better informed, synthesizing and sharing research findings to elevate awareness of research across the organization.
  • Serve as a dependable point of contact/link to the Research Program Management team, Research Ops, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Support and execute special team projects that build culture and drive clarity of purpose, including team off sites and work sessions
  • Facilitate other team culture building activities and events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience as a producer, project manager or program manager with a background establishing systems, supporting teams, and developing relationships.
  • 2+ years experience working with UX research, design, or cross-functional teams.
  • Track record of operating independently, being detail-oriented, and delivering results in a highly organized manner.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment that requires independent time management, task prioritization, ability to identify problems and work towards solutions.
