Tools Engineer, Partnerships Analytics

The Partnerships team at Facebook works with leading content creators, publishers, and businesses in entertainment, sports, news, and many other verticals. This role is a unique opportunity to build world-class analytics products with one of the most important datasets in the world. In this role as a Tools Engineer on the Core Data Team within Partnerships Analytics, you will own the development of a wide range of highly strategic analytics products built to deliver valuable insights to all of our Partnerships teams as well as our partners.
Alongside Technical Project Managers and Data Engineers, you will use your excellent technical and business skills to play a critical role in the growth of our partner relationships all over the world. As a member of a small and independent engineering team, you will have the opportunity to build tools that are multiplicative in scale and impact. The ideal candidate will work best in a fast-paced work environment where objectives and priorities are constantly evolving. They should flourish in a microservice oriented product architecture and have experience building tools that leverage work across many teams and hundreds of contributors. They also bring a strong opinion and creative vision to the team and be able to work independently. The role will report to the Core Data Team’s Data Product Management and Tools Engineering Manager and is based in Menlo Park.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop analytics products and tools, author technical documentation, and co-design data products that enable Partnerships Analytics to scale with Facebook Inc’s various businesses
  • Deeply understand Facebook’s data products and their underlying implementation
  • Work closely with our strategic partners to integrate with Facebook’s data products and ensure value creation
  • Represent a developer’s view during the planning and development of our data products, focusing on finding long-term solutions to complex business use cases, and evolving user needs
  • Support on-call shift as needed to support the team
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Software Engineer, Technical Consultant, or Partner/Sales Engineer
  • 2+ years of experience working with open-source data visualization frameworks such as D3.js
  • 2+ years of experience building software developed in (at least one) Python, Node.js, PHP, C/C++, Ruby, C#, or Java
  • Knowledge of Web technology stack (HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS)
  • Experience understanding the needs of a data & analytics driven organization
  • Experience working cross-functionally with senior leaders to drive to decisions
  • Experience growing and developing a team, including planning and leadership development
  • Experience translating engineering needs into strategic plans and vice versa
  • Experience working in a Unix/Linux environment
  • Fluency in English and presentation experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years developing in a fast-paced Agile/Scrum environment
  • BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree/experience
  • Understanding of the Facebook, Instagram, or Messenger Platforms
