Technology Communications Manager, Speechwriter

(Menlo Park, CA)

Facebook's mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. Through our family of apps and services, we're building a different kind of company that connects billions of people around the world, gives them ways to share what matters most to them, and helps bring people closer together. Whether we're creating new products or helping a small business expand its reach, people at Facebook are builders at heart. Our global teams are constantly iterating, solving problems, and working together to empower people around the world to build community and connect in meaningful ways. Together, we can help people build stronger communities - we're just getting started.

We know execution matters most, but so does erudition. The future is not yet written. So, Facebook is looking for a dedicated speechwriter for Facebook's Head of Engineering and Infrastructure, someone to understand and amplify his voice while championing our engineering team and the systems they create.

This experienced speechwriter will join our technology communications team to help us distill and distinguish the company's most exciting technological leaps, products and vision. They will draft speeches, briefings, blog posts, Q&As and more, working closely with the executive and across the company. A sophisticated knowledge of technology is essential, and an ability to translate that knowledge for myriad audiences, from expert engineers to journalists. Please note: This isn't an ivory tower position. The candidate needs to excel at working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

From day one, the candidate will produce crisp, clear content reflecting the executive's and company's view of the future, and the work we are doing to get there. This may be required on a tight deadline, calling for adaptivity to quickly changing demands, sometimes outside standard Monday-Friday hours. The ability to anticipate compelling future narratives, and to creatively disseminate content internally and externally, will help.

Our technology communications team delivers - and expects - best-in-class understanding not just of Facebook's mission, but the broader context in which we work. The writer we are looking for 1) cares about technology and society, 2) can deliver good writing that conveys complex ideas simply, and 3) wants to carve a new niche and up their own game.

This position is located in Menlo Park, California.
