More than half the population of the world are not yet connected to the Internet. The Connectivity Lab is doing research to develop the next generation technologies to connect everyone on the planet to the Internet. You will help define requirements for and supervise the outfitting/operation of a full Systems Integration Lab. You will coordinate and supervise verification and validation testing of the system across the entire spectrum of the ecosystem through Hardware in the Loop, Constructive, Virtual and Live Simulations. The successful candidate will be adept at understanding and evaluating various elements of the system against a wide variety of system requirements

Responsibilities

  • Create, update and evaluate Aquila SIL requirements
  • Update and maintain the SIL design and infrastructure to meet evolving test and demonstration requirements of the Aquila program
  • Write and maintain documentation of the SIL configuration, infrastructure, equipment, simulators, procedures, electrical and functional schematics, check lists, etc.
  • Schedule SIL test assets to ensure laboratory is ready to support test needs
  • Optimize the scheduling of testing to maximize utilization of lab
  • Prepare re-configuration procedures and reconfigure SIL assets to support test requirements
  • Participate in testing of hardware and software
  • Design required cable and harnesses to support test and demonstration activities
  • Responsible for packaging, handling, storage and transportation of equipment
  • Maintain equipment inventory to coordinate the transfer of equipment
  • Maintain an environment for operating and temporary storage of flight hardware
  • Managing access to the SIL and ensure those with access have the minimum level of training
  • Observe, mentor and provide technical guidance to integration and test engineers and others utilizing the SIL
  • Develop, maintain, and enforcing SIL standard operating policies and procedures
  • Generate specifications, verification and validation plans, procedures, test plans, scripts, work orders, and reports to support design and development activities
  • Prepare material for, and conduct SIL design, test, readiness, post-test, configuration reviews
  • Attend off-site integration and test activities as needed
  • Coordinate with operations to ensure SIL certifications (safety, ESD, materials handling, etc.) are maintained
  • Identifying specialty test equipment, capital equipment and fixtures
  • Diagnose and repair SIL equipment
  • Ensure all test equipment and instruments are maintained, functioning and calibrated
  • Maintain daily lab operations, to include coordinating on safety related issues, tasking the procurement team for lab stock and equipment, and working with facilities for physical requirements for the lab
  • Prepare complex test procedures with a test equipment design background

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree with a minimum of 7 years of experience in system integration
  • Background in lab management and hardware and software testing
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision on projects involving both small and large engineering teams
  • Experience and skills in project definition, simulation, implementation, lab integration and test
  • Able to read and understand electronic drawings/schematics
  • Background in electrical engineering and knowledge of electronic circuits and troubleshooting and knowledge of electronic test equipment
  • Previous experience and skills in executing test procedures/supporting test activities, analyzing data and anomaly resolution
  • Knowledgeable in the use of various electronic systems analysis and test equipment.
  • Interpersonal relationship skills and ability to work with technical engineers and employees
