Systems Engineer (EDA)

Facebook Enterprise Engineering is looking for System Engineers to join the EDA Infrastructure Team that will be embedded with the Silicon Teams at Facebook. Our mission is to provide a fast and reliable service, focused on EDA applications. You will be responsible for building, managing, and redefining how EDA should be deployed with modern infrastructure hardware and software.
The ideal candidate will have experience designing and managing infrastructure at scale, as well as experience with tooling and automation for provisioning, monitoring, and managing the environment. We use a combination of open source and off-the-shelf technologies, plus many of the tools developed to run


  • Build, scale, and secure Oculus corporate infrastructure, focusing on both Windows and Linux environments
  • Combine open-source and commercial technologies to build services that will have an impact on the business
  • Leverage the scale and complexity of the larger infrastructure to solve problems for all of Oculus
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain servers and other critical infrastructure to support all Oculus teams
  • Perform server performance tuning and capacity planning alongside Facebook monitoring and platform teams
  • Collaborate with project managers and third party/in-house developers on unique technical projects
  • Produce systems that are scalable, automated, and well-documented, and train others to take on operations
  • Maintain technical documentation library and internal wikis
  • B.S. degree in a technical discipline (or equivalent work experience)
  • 2+ years working in a server administration or data center support role
  • 2+ years System Engineering experience with Windows Server (2008R2/2012) or Linux Server (CentOS, Ubuntu) and associated technology support
  • Knowledge in different protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, SNMP, iptables, Active Directory, WSUS, WDS, etc.)
  • Knowledge in network protocols and network design principles
  • Experience with open source monitoring and methodologies (Zabbix, OpenNMS, Nagios)
  • Knowledge in data center technologies (SAN/CDN)
