As a Speech Designer, you will be working on defining the user experience including but not limited to speech input and output for cutting edge AI systems. With our cross-functional team, you will design, prototype and test experiences that define the future of how people will interact with spoken language interfaces and other modalities. You love solving novel problems from first principles of how voice and touch interact with each other. Join a world-class team experimenting with bold ideas. Work alongside expert Scientists, Software Engineers, Product Designers and Sound Engineers to create the technology that makes speech pervasive and universal. You'll work closely with engineers and product designers. This position is full-time and based in Menlo Park.

Responsibilities

  • Define and synthesize user requirements
  • Help establish speech and multimodal design processes and tools to align cross-functional teams
  • Contribute to strategic decisions, working with research and engineering teams
  • Design end-to-end flows and mock-ups and individually contribute to the feature set
  • Give and solicit feedback from others to raise the quality and craftsmanship of the product
  • Partner with PMs, engineers, researchers and designers, overseeing the implementation of the user experience
  • Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional leads
  • Clearly articulate design decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders
  • Help build product strategy
  • Thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience with understanding speech recognition and natural language understanding technology
  • Experience with speech and multimodal design with proven experience leading in cross-functional environments
  • 5+ years of experience in shipping software products
  • Experience creating, testing, and analyzing prototypes for voice interactions
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods for user research
  • Knowledge about product strategy and vision
  • Portfolio featuring examples of speech and interaction work
Preferred Qualifications
  • Communication skills
  • 2+ years of speech design experience
  • Experience designing for diverse groups of people (international audiences, multi-language localization, accessibility for people with disabilities, etc.)
