Rotational Production Network Engineer New Grad

Facebook is looking for talented, highly motivated graduates for its Network Engineering team. As a member of the team, you will work alongside experienced Backbone, Datacenter, Performance and Automation engineers on a large scale global network. This will be your network and it is constantly growing. Your primary function will be to ensure that the network is reliable, robust and can scale to meet the challenges that serving over a billion users presents. Automation and continuous improvement are the keys to meeting our demands; you will be responsible for developing and deploying network designs, automation systems and network performance improvements into our production network. Responsibilities

  • Build experience with Backbone, Datacenter, Network Infrastructure Engineering teams throughout the first year
  • Build, manage and maintain multi-vendor, multi-protocol datacenter and backbone networks
  • Develop optimized network monitoring systems
  • Design, and deploy new network architecture
  • Develop automated methods to mitigate and remediate network events
  • Analyze data to diagnose and identify root causes to network issues
  • Be an active participant in deep technical discussions
  • Develop and maintain consistency within the network infrastructure

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Networking or a related field
  • Fundamental understanding of Switch and Routing concepts and implementation
  • Knowledge of routing protocols BGP, OSPF and ISIS
  • Knowledge of tunneling protocols MPLS, GRE, IPnIP
  • Experience with network device configuration
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with popular scripting languages: Python, Go, Perl, Ruby or shell strongly preferred
  • Experience with Linux/Unix preferred
