As a Mechanical Engineer on the Facebook Reality Labs hardware team, you will develop state-of-the-art mechanical designs, structures, mechanisms and sensor integration solutions that will create transformative experiences for users of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality products. You will become part of a team exploring new concepts through analytical modeling and fast iterative prototyping.We value people who work well in teams, can brainstorm ideas, are able to drive a concept into a prototype and can envision how that prototype could transition into a high-volume consumer product.We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer who has experience in consumer electronics. This position has a 16-week duration beginning in August 2020. All candidates should be able to commit to a consecutive 16-week timeframe for successful completion of the program. At the end of the term, those who have demonstrated their abilities to succeed and make an impact at Facebook will be considered for a full-time position.   • Create mechanical solutions as a part of a team
  • Apply rigorous engineering techniques to solve challenging design problems
  • Analyze, optimize, build, test, and refine prototypes
  • Collaborate with program management, industrial design, user experience, component module, and supply chain teams to generate concepts and detailed designs
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
  • 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Experience in consumer electronics or related fields
  • Experience in 3D CAD modeling (NX, SolidWorks, ProE) and physical prototyping
  • Experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and associated metrology
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing techniques (machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.)
  • Experience with product design/prototyping and R&D in various phases of product development from concept to manufacturing
  • Experience designing handheld and wearable electronics for high-volume manufacturing
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, geometric tolerancing, and 3D/2D CAD
  • Experience with integrating component modules and interconnects into mechanical enclosures
  • Knowledge of materials and structural modeling/optimization
