Facebook offers people, businesses, content creators, and advertisers unprecedented opportunities to reach friends, family, consumers, and fans. However, this opportunity comes with the risk of abuse in the form of spreading misinformation, hate, and other content that users of Facebook may not want to see. The Connection Integrity team is responsible for understanding the motivations behind spreading and consuming harmful content in order to develop enforcement strategies to protect the Facebook community.Our research ranges from the foundational to the evaluative, from ethnography to experimentation, and allows for collaboration between researchers, data scientists, engineers, and designers across the company. What makes a good candidate? We are looking for a Research Manager with exceptional research, communication and leadership skills to direct priorities, manage cross-functional relations, influence product leadership and drive strategic initiatives. The role requires you to be an expert researcher with a proven track record of doing quant and qual research that impacts a complex and diverse product. In addition, you need to have a proven track record of building and managing high-performing teams, preferably with researchers of different disciplines. You will be required to articulate the vision of the team to design and product leadership and be a strong advocate for the role of research in product development.You must become a trusted, strategic partner to product stakeholders by communicating and demonstrating the value of user research, and by delivering insights that lead to measurable business value. You must be a data expert, but also know when to trust your gut. You must build strong relationships with other research teams at Facebook to ensure a cohesive and cross-functional vision for Research at Facebook.

  • Resource Allocation - ensure we are always focusing on the highest priority things, focusing both on the short-term needs as well as looking ahead to the next big challenge
  • Ability to build meaningful cross-functional relationships with product management, engineering, design, content strategy, and marketing
  • Work closely with product teams to identify research topics that will drive short- and long-term product development
  • Collaborate with researchers across the company to elevate research findings on related topics
  • Coach, manage, and develop a high performing team of quantitative and qualitative researchers
  • Support individual team member's career growth
  • Ensure the team designs and executes high quality, rigorous studies
  • 3+ years experience in a quantitative research field, such as consulting, data science, market research, product development or user experience research
  • Experience attracting and retaining researchers
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Start-to-finish ownership and execution of large-scale, high-impact research projects
  • Experience communicating theory, analysis and results to a lay audience
  • Track record of translating research into product
  • Experience with communicating and partnering with technical and non-technical teams
