Quantitative UX Researcher, Privacy & Data Use

We are looking for an experienced individual contributor who will help elevate the practice of research with creative but rigorous quantitative research methods, including behavioral data analysis, managing large-scale data, survey design and response effects, experimental design, statistical analysis, and/or coding in PHP, SQL, and Python. We are looking for people who can take a human-centered approach to designing studies that provide an understanding of how people's attitudes, beliefs, or stated needs relate to their actions or behaviors. The right candidate will be an effective communicator, passionate about understanding people, curious about the relationship between data, technology and society, comfortable in a flat, fast-moving organization, and a great collaborator.
You will support the Privacy & Data Use team which is composed of experts in product and policy, working cross-functionally to address privacy and data use challenges at scale by implementing privacy principles, processes and tools across the company. You will play a pivotal part in a growing cross-functional organization tackling some of the hardest problems in the privacy space.

QUANTITATIVE UX RESEARCHER, PRIVACY & DATA USE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Orchestrate strategic visioning and analytical activity, moving between macro trends and micro trends in privacy and data use, and developing substantiated point of views
  • Work closely with product teams, as well as other researchers, to identify important research questions
  • Act as a thought leader in research, while advocating for people who use our products
  • Generate insights that shape how product teams think about medium- and long-term product strategy
  • Design and execute studies that address both user behavior and attitudes, using the right methodology for the right questions
  • Work cross-functionally with design, product management, data science, content strategy, engineering, and marketing
  • Communicate insights in creative and compelling ways
  • Identify opportunities to constantly improve the quality of thinking applied to privacy and data use insights
  • Comfort with utilizing data to define and support hypotheses
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.A./B.S. in a human behavior-related field, such as Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, Communication, Anthropology, Information Science, Computer Science, or Political Science
  • 5+ years' experience conducting quantitative research, including behavioral data analysis, managing large-scale data, survey design and response effects, experimental design, statistical analysis, and/or coding in PHP, SQL, and Python
  • Knowledge of research methods and experience in at least one subset of methods (e.g., survey design and quantitative data analysis)
  • Experience conveying research findings and implications to audiences
  • Analytical, project management, and problem-solving experience
  • Experience with autonomy and independent decision making to weigh tradeoffs and balance demands
  • Experience mentoring other researchers and maintaining team's standard of work
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • M.A./M.S./Ph.D, human behavior-related field, such as Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, Communication, Anthropology, Information Science, Computer Science, or Political Science
  • Experience with research regarding privacy and data use
  • Experience conducting international or cross-cultural research
