Public Policy Manager, Egypt

Facebook is seeking a strategic thinker to join our MENA & Pakistan Public Policy team as a Public Policy Manager. You will work on issues related to the Internet and Facebook's mission of giving people the power to build community and bringing the world closer together. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding Facebook's policies and business priorities, being able to communicate those to policymakers and stakeholders. Additionally, you will collaborate with colleagues across the business and the globe, engage with trade associations and third-party groups.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and build relationships with policymakers
  • Cross-functionally work with internal stakeholders such as communications, legal and the broader policy team
  • Advocate, internally and externally, policy positions that keep Facebook and the broader technology industry competitive and innovative
  • Represent Facebook in meetings with policymakers and stakeholders
  • Communicate Facebook's positions to policymakers and to external stakeholders
  • Identify, monitor and analyze relevant policy trends and issues of importance to the company
  • Articulate our policy positions in briefing papers, consultation responses and internal policy meetings
  • Advise internal colleagues and teams on public policy matters to help guide development of products, services and policies
  • Develop and execute strategies for engaging with public policymakers around issues important to Facebook and the people we serve
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Public Policy or related field
  • Extensive experience in the field including 5+ year experience in public policy in tech
  • Experience in policy partnership/campaign building in the technology field
  • Deep knowledge of Egypt, and the regulatory and policy environment
  • Superb English verbal and written communications skills. Fluency in Arabic and English required
  • A solid network of high-level contacts in the government sphere
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Willingness to be based in Dubai but spend 70% of your time in Egypt, engaging on the ground
  • Knowledge and experience in policy on areas including regulatory affairs, privacy, content, safety, social good, innovation, entrepreneurship
