Building 8 brings together world-class experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content. We have a clear mandate to ship products at scale. In particular, seemingly impossible products that define new categories that advance Facebook's mission of connecting the world. The B8 team will apply DARPA- style breakthrough development at the intersection of ambitious science and product development. It will operate on aggressive, fixed timelines, with extensive use of partnerships in universities, small and large businesses. The Product Launch Team has the responsibility for taking breakthroughs and delivering them to market at scale. Building 8 seeks a Product Manager with the technical expertise and business acumen to seamlessly collaborate with teams in engineering, go-to-market, product marketing and finance, leading product roadmap definition and driving a robust product management process from discovery to development to launch. Through your leadership, you will develop thoughtful, customer-focused and innovative solutions to complex problems inspiring your stakeholders and creating a robust and profitable product strategy. We are looking for a slightly impatient individual willing to face down their fear of failure to accomplish bold things. This is a full-time position based in our Menlo Park office.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver product value proposition, key features and product positioning
  • Use market research and in-depth knowledge of competitors and user pain points to define a vision and strategy for the product roadmap and your product line's partner and ecosystem road maps
  • Create product requirements documents (PRD) including definition of use cases, user experience and feature specifications in order to detail how a product or product feature should be built out.
  • Drive creation of robust business plans and 3 year plans that provide the management team with a vision of the future P&L of the product roadmap.
  • Develop outstanding strategic relationships with partners and business teams in order to understand product development and business processes.
  • Engage partners alongside operations and engineering teams to support product design development and launch.
  • Work with marketing and PR teams to craft product positioning, create compelling marketing materials, execute launches flawlessly.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Consumer hardware product management experience, spanning from initial concept exploration and prototyping to market introduction for products that span hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of CE (consumer electronics) manufacturing and hardware supply chain
  • Experience with closing high-value opportunities within a technical environment.
  • Communication Skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA
  • Track record developing nascent consumer hardware and software technologies into successful consumer products
  • Understanding of agile software development practices and experience crafting epics and user stories
  • Familiarity with business issues and the ability to learn quickly
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong technical abilities
