Facebook's mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. Through our family of apps and services, we're building a different kind of company that connects billions of people around the world, gives them ways to share what matters most to them, and helps bring people closer together. Whether we're creating new products or helping a small business expand its reach, people at Facebook are builders at heart. Our global teams are constantly iterating, solving problems, and working together to empower people around the world to build community and connect in meaningful ways. Together, we can help people build stronger communities - we're just getting started.

We believe messaging will be the main way people communicate with businesses. Why?Shift to messaging:People have switched to messaging apps, and businesses are starting to follow. Research shows that 64% of people prefer to message a business (vs. call or email) and rate the effectiveness of messaging a business much higher vs. phone. The opportunity is huge: 2 billion person to business communications happen each day, mostly through legacy channels like phone or email. Trends are favorable: Markets with high messaging adoption (e.g. India, Indonesia, Thailand) and younger demographics use messaging to communicate with a business nearly as often as they use phone or email. Businesses are seeing ROI: Messaging drives greater efficiency vs. phone, drives increased conversions, and improves customer satisfaction. The Messenger Business team is responsible for growing this ecosystem through product experiences that enable person-to-business communication on Messenger and Instagram Direct. This includes first party SMB tools, APIs for developers, and consumer facing experiences.
