The Health team's mission is to help people and organizations come together to improve health and wellbeing. We're looking for a Product Design Manager who's passionate about impacting the world's physical and mental health through Facebook's family of apps. The role entails building a strong Health Design team, partnering closely with other functional leads to determine the org strategy and focus areas, establishing processes for scaling the Health org, and managing the team of four designers. Current Health product initiatives include authoritative content on the COVID-19 Information Center, Blood Donations, Mental Health, Health Integrity, and more.In this role, you will partner with other functional leads to determine the cross-app strategy for Health, including prioritizing work streams and defining success of those workstreams. For centralized Health projects (created by the Social Impact team), you will help drive strategy and execution. For distributed Health projects (created by another team with Social Impact's support), you will partner with functional peers to ensure clarity of structure and process, and serve as the Health Design point of contact. This role requires a strong combination of design leadership, expertise in East-West collaborations, experience bringing clarity to a new space, and a passion for Health. While the direct team size may be small, the complexity of working across apps and the need to identify and build central processes make this an important role within the company.

  • Ability to identify and implement processes for Health Design to work well within the centralized Health team and with distributed health projects throughout the company
  • Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functionally, building strong relationships with other teams
  • Ability to translate strategic goals of the org into Health Design staffing requirements, team structure, and clear priorities
  • Ability to effectively manage a design team, including mapping out individual career progression
  • Ability to contribute as an IC on strategic assessment of new bets, taking highly ambiguous or emergent problems and forming a structured opinion on what we should do (if anything) from the Health Design perspective
  • Ability to resolve or escalate disagreements quickly and effectively
  • 5+ years management and leadership experience with a proven track record of building team cultures
  • Experience shaping and leading product strategy
  • Interest in the Health space
  • Experience in translating strategic goals into staffing requirements, team structure and clearing priorities
  • Experience in collaborating and influencing cross-functionally, building relationships with other teams
  • 5+ years experience shipping products for mobile app and mobile web
  • A background in Health
  • Experience with emerging markets
