  • Develop new concepts and technologies for next-generation Near-Eye Displays (NEDs), projectors, cameras, and sensors including integrated optics, structured light, depth sensing, polarization optics, and optical system design
  • Work with a small team of optical scientists in developing imaging systems for AR and VR applications
  • 3+ years experience in applied research or product development of optical or photonic systems
  • 3+ years experience in optical design and taking a design from concept to prototype
  • 3+ years of experience with optics technologies with one or more of the following: imaging, illumination, physical optics, stray light analysis, radiometry and photometry
  • 3+ years of experience with laboratory work in setting up of optical systems, experience with methods and tools for fabrication of optics (molded, polished, diamond turned) as well as microstructures
  • 3+ years of experience with design optical tools and methods such as Zemax or CODE V
  • Experience performing first-order optical layouts and explaining the layout and reasoning behind it
  • Experience working, communicating, and collaborating in a cross-functional environment with minimal direction
  • Experience in reflective, freeform, and cell phone camera design
  • Masters degree with 5+ years industry experience or PhD with 3+ years industry experience in optical design or optical technology development
  • Experience maturing a design from proof-of-concept to volume prototypes or taking your own design into production
  • Experience with full design chain: first order layout, design, material selection, opto-mechanical interaction, tolerancing, thermal control, supplier selection, supplier management, and test and manufacturing evaluation
  • Experience with product launches, grants, fellowships, patents, or first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as Applied Optics, Optics Letters, Optics Express, SIGGRAPH, SID, OSA, or SPIE
