Operations Program Manager, Prototypes

As an Operations Program Manager, Prototypes at Facebook, you will be responsible for driving build readiness for low-volume engineering prototype builds with both US based and Asia based manufacturing partners. You will be a key member of the Engineering team, working closely with Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Test Engineering, Research Engineers and our manufacturing partners. You will provide a link from the manufacturing site to the Engineering teams for factory and product issues. You will be responsible for integrating the efforts of Sourcing Managers and various teams representing HW Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Test/Calibration Engineers.
Ideal candidates are those with experience in both high-volume mass production and small product concept builds. Candidates should have strong manufacturing process experience. This must also be complemented with strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work in ambiguous environments, and strong willingness to collaborate and optimize overall business objectives.


  • Coordinate communication and collaboration between project team and manufacturing partner.
  • Lead manufacturing partner operations team in planning and executing development builds.
  • Drive build readiness with Engineering, Operations and manufacturing partner teams.
  • Work with manufacturing partners on yield improvement and process troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to the design of the FATP (final assembly, test, and pack-out) line.
  • Manage Program Management tools (Gantt charts, critical path analyses, action item lists, etc.).
  • Institute communications vehicles (e.g. management reviews, status reports, etc.) to keep cross-functional teams and management abreast of program progress and risks.
  • Work with manufacturing partners on yield improvement and process troubleshooting.
  • Ability to travel up to 25-30%.
  • 8+ years work experience in new product development, program management, operations management, or related disciplines
  • Technical experience including knowledge of DFX, Final Assembly, Test, Pack and SMT processes
  • Experience driving China-based manufacturers, remotely and in-person
  • Experience in using process driven and analytical approaches to problem-solving (Six Sigma, 8D, FMEA, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and statistics
  • Proven project management experience (Planning, Cost, & Delivery)
  • Interpersonal and communication experience
  • Bachelors degree in IE, EE, ME, or equivalent
  • Expertise in statistical software
  • Experience with optical systems
  • Mandarin and/or Cantonese language skills
  • Six Sigma black belt certification
