Network Operations Engineer

Facebook is looking for a Network Operations Engineer to help with new connectivity and to provide network support in POPs and data centers across the production network.

NETWORK OPERATIONS ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Make Facebook Network highly reliable and always available through quality execution of Network Operations and innovation
  • Own and improve Operational efficiency through automation and processes improvements
  • Troubleshoot network issues in adherence to SLAs
  • Follow, improve, and implement data center and POP best practices
  • Collaborate with Network Engineering, Traffic, Logistics, and OEM partners to integrate new equipment and technologies into the production network
  • Schedule and perform network maintenance, repair, and upgrade tasks as needed while limiting the impact on the production network, improve tools and processes
  • Perform detailed troubleshooting remotely and engage and manage vendors as needed to fix hardware issues at the POP sites
  • Participate and improve on call activities and follow escalation process to support the infrastructure 24/7
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 6+ years of network operations experience while supporting large-scale service provider, datacenter, and/or enterprise network infrastructure
  • Experience with routing and switching technologies and protocols including TCP/IP, IPv6, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, and MPLS
  • Experience with Enterprise and Service Provider network hardware platforms and architectures, including Cisco and Juniper routers/switches and Nexus data center switching platforms
  • Experience with Enterprise and Service Provider network hardware platforms and architectures, including Cisco and Juniper routers/switches and Nexus data center switching platforms
  • Automation experience in Networking domain, experience in any programming/scripting language (perl, python, bash, etc.)
  • Experience in traffic analysis and tools
  • Communication skills, should be able to work with service providers and colocation facilities around the world
  • Ability to work within a global team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with limited supervision
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with NOC environments and working to SLAs
  • Familiarity with Content Delivery Networks and POP architecture
  • Understanding of fiber-optic technology and the connectivity landscape
  • Certification such as CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIS, RHCSA or equivalent experience
