The Facebook Connectivity team builds the bleeding edge technology that will allow Facebook to connect our next billion users. Through the Telecom Infra Project (TIP), Facebook has partnered with over 500 global technology and telecom leaders to design, build, and deploy new telecom technologies. Our projects are aimed at delivering connectivity to people without access to the internet and increasing connectivity for people with access to existing, but inadequate network infrastructures. The Connectivity Deployment team works closely with cross-functional partners to support engineering, testing, and deployments across the globe. Deployment Engineers are responsible for designing and implementing connectivity solutions in partnership with OEMs and network operators.   • Comprehensive wireless and TCP/IP network design and implementation
  • Work cross functionally with partners, project management, network, software, and hardware engineers to build network designs to solve connectivity problems
  • Develop requirements and implementation plans with business partners and executive teams
  • Build and integrate connectivity solutions with operator/ISP networks
  • Deploy and operate testbeds to test wireless connectivity solutions
  • Proactively contribute to and maintain technical and training documentation
  • Develop automation and tooling as needed to support connectivity deployment initiatives
  • Configuration and testing of wireless systems (2G GSM, 3G UMTS, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi) in lab and field trial environments, with focus on cellular core network elements (MSC, IMS, MME, SGW/PGW, OCS, PCRF, etc.)
  • Configuration and integration of RAN radio equipment and backhaul technologies such as microwave/satellite with EPC core network
  • Testing and validation of features such as LTE mobility management, handoffs, roaming architecture, CSFB, VoLTE, etc.
  • Experience with IPv6 and IPv4 networking in routing and switching
  • Experience designing and deploying scaled wireless networks at WISP, cellular carrier, or telco
  • Experience working with governments, municipalities, and installation crews for deployment of either wired or wireless networks
  • Proficiency in working with and troubleshooting wireless networks and wireless telecom equipment to include 3G/4G cellular, Wi-Fi, and microwave
  • Experience with carrier backhaul including microwave and fiber transport networks
  • Proficiency in using Linux
  • Experience configuring, testing and integrating UE, eNB, SGW, MME, PGW, EPC, PCRF, OCS, IMS
  • Experience with network traffic generators (eg., IXIA, Spirent, Xena, TM500, UE100), traffic impairment boxes, KPI measurement tools, spectrum analyzers, protocol analyzers (eg., wireshark)
  • Working knowledge of 3GPP specifications, specifically 2G GSM, 3G UMTS, 4G LTE
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and conducting executive level briefings
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and cross-functional management skills with a clear focus under pressure
  • Ability to travel internationally, up to 25% of the time. Comfort working across time zones, remote teams and cultures required
  • Automation software experience and familiarity
  • Start-up or technical infrastructure experience
  • Experience with cloud-based controllers, orchestrators, carrier Wi-Fi offload, LTE-U and Private LTE
  • Experience with network deployments in emerging markets
