Building 8 brings together world-class experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content. In particular, seemingly impossible products that define new categories that advance Facebook's mission of connecting the world. The Building 8 team will apply DARPA-style breakthrough development at the intersection of ambitious science and product development. It will operate on aggressive, fixed timelines, with extensive use of partnerships in universities, small and large businesses.We're looking for an experienced Consumer Media professional who is passionate about leveraging insights to engage the right audiences at optimal touchpoints, moments and mindsets to deliver impact. The Consumer Media Manager will be responsible for driving connections planning and media execution across Building 8 products and offerings. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in the hardware and/or technology categories, as well as a track record of developing innovative media strategies. This role will require strong media strategy and implementation, effective collaboration with cross-functional partners, and a data-driven mindset. This is a full-time position based at our headquarters in Menlo Park


  • Deliver integrated media strategies to drive awareness, consideration and adoption of Building 8 product offerings
  • Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to influence communications plans and audience strategy, while also informing channel mix, tactical planning, execution and optimization
  • Develop a rich understanding of the various consumer segments and their media behaviors
  • Maximize relationships with cross-functional partners across marketing, creative, PR, partnerships, research, finance and analytics teams to develop impactful work
  • Serve as a credible, expert voice internally to represent media strategy considerations with internal stakeholders
  • Work with internal partners and external agencies to develop and execute effective media programs
  • Apply best practices regarding plan development, media investment management and streamlined measurement
  • Tackle complex consumer marketing challenges with a blend of analytical rigor and creativity
  • Demonstrate thought leadership in media strategy, innovation and measurement

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of developing and leading integrated media strategies, plans and campaigns at advertising, media or marketing agencies or in a relevant client role
  • Experience with planning and executing consumer media campaigns across multiple audience groups with specific experience in launching consumer hardware
  • Experience with both branding and direct response objectives
  • Paid media experience across social, digital and offline channels
  • Experience collaborating with agency partners to develop media tactics and deliver seamless execution of campaigns
  • Project management skills including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Communication skills to lead, influence and engage internal stakeholders and cross-functional partners
  • Understanding of the global media landscape and emerging media trends
  • Budget management and negotiation skills
  • Communication, problem solving, collaboration, and analytical skills
