Logistics Technology Manager

Facebook is seeking an experienced supply chain/logistics professional who brings a unique blend of technical and research capability to support technology programs for the Infrastructure Business Operations Support organization, reporting to its Central Director. IBOS does inventory management, asset management, spares parts planning, global process and systems, among other activities to ensure that data centers and similar facilities around the world are always up and running. This newly created position focuses on accelerating the research and use of technology toward touchless data centers. In addition, the successful candidate will lead/support other complex distribution projects that enable scale and ensure operational excellence. This position is full-time and will be located in our Menlo Park office.


  • Develop and guide innovation of processes and technologies that enable "touchless" procedures and maximum service levels (e.g. RFID, robotics, predictive analytics)
  • Partner with other teams and stakeholders as needed in order to understand business and stakeholder needs, as well as supplier and other supporting function capabilities
  • Lead and perform data analysis and/or execute the above
  • Enable the design of our distribution network that enables scale, standardization and simplification
  • Perform distribution network optimization/modeling to produce data-driven vision
  • Provide logistics thought leadership and business judgment to final distribution design
  • Ensure that the distribution strategy process and technology solutions support our business goals, including Sustainability goals and metrics, and meet or surpass relevant internal and external policies and regulations
  • Design and deliver other Sustainability programs for IBOS, as required, and in alignment with the Infrastructure Sustainability team and other teams and stakeholders-especially if these programs deliver both, operational excellence and sustainable improvements
  • Tirelessly advocate for improvements to systems and processes that will benefit our business partners
  • Ability to travel 30%
  • 15+ years of work experience implementing programs, improving processes or running operations in a global, cross-functional, corporate environment
  • 7+ years of proven experience in supply chain & logistics optimization
  • MBA or Master's in supply chain or logistics
  • Strategic experience with a proven track record of translating ideas/innovations into action
  • Experience researching and innovating products or processes
  • Experience in design of Sustainability strategy, policies or programs (including the use of technology)
  • Experience driving recommendations to management, functional, or geographic management
  • Experience with program management, organizing and managing multiple initiatives simultaneously and directing them to completion
  • Experience working in an independent or team-based environment, influencing multiple functions, senior executives, colleagues and suppliers
  • Experience improving processes by introducing RFID/robotics technology, machine learning, predictive analytics or advanced manufacturing principles and technology
  • Experience in setting up logistics operations in countries outside of US, 4PL enablement
  • Strong self-initiative and persistence, ability to deal with a high degree of ambiguity and drive clarity in key areas
  • Experience leading by example, creating a sense of energy, ownership, and personal commitment to the work
