Lead Product Counsel, Calibra

Calibra is a Facebook subsidiary whose goal is to provide financial services for Libra, a new global currency powered by blockchain technology. The first product Calibra will introduce is a digital wallet, which will be available in Messenger, WhatsApp and as a standalone app. The first version of Calibra will support peer-to-peer payments and a few other ways to pay such as QR codes which customers can use to accept transfers of Libra. Over time there will be many other use-cases for Calibra including in-store payments, integrations into Point-of-Sale systems, and more. When launched, Calibra will have strong fraud and privacy protections. The Calibra digital wallet is expected to launch in 2020.

Facebook seeks a highly motivated team player with a passion for online commerce to serve as Lead Product Counsel to support its new Calibra custodial wallet business for the Libra cryptocurrency. In this role, you will work closely with product, engineering, policy, operations, and business teams, as well as other legal department subgroups. You will work cross-functionally with teams building a variety of commerce and payments experiences. LEAD PRODUCT COUNSEL, CALIBRA RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advise broad cross-functional teams on a wide range of legal issues regarding existing and planned products
  • Interact with and manage local outside counsel to secure and provide advice regarding product proposals
  • Prepare and maintain terms of service associated with new and updated products
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • J.D. degree with membership in at least 1 U.S. state bar
  • 5+ years of legal experience, either in-house or at a law firm
  • Experience with privacy and consumer protection issues related to online products and services
  • Experience working independently and cross-functionally
