Lead Employment Counsel

Facebook seeks a highly motivated team player to join as a Lead Counsel in our Employment Law Group. This full-time position will report to an Associate General Counsel responsible for one of our business lines (Tech, Engineering and/or Sales) and will advise on a wide range of employment law-related issues in that business. The role requires good judgment, a strong work ethic, and an interest in building relationships with cross-functional partners. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide employment law support for existing employment law team members supporting the organization
  • Support HR on complicated hires, employee terminations, performance management, investigations, and other employment-related matters
  • Collaborate with other attorneys in the Employment Law Group with respect to all advice and counseling provided to HR and other cross-functional partners
  • Coordinate and drive completion of employment related projects, including internal process reviews, new policy roll-outs and implementation, and training programs
  • Manage the drafting and revision of correspondence, separation agreements and internal policies, and other employment related documents
  • Develop creative approaches to managing legal risks and resolving disputes
  • Participate in creation and delivery of trainings related to employment law matters, such as harassment training and other manager trainings on a variety of topics
  • Manage pre-litigation and litigation matters
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
  • 5+ years of experience in labor and employment law
  • Experience with California and federal employment law
  • Employment litigation experience and experience coordinating and driving projects to completion (including litigations)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • California or New York Bar membership
  • Experience with counseling and advising clients on state and federal employment laws
