In this role, you will provide broad legal support to our core product team and enable continued innovation for our community of users. We are looking for a lawyer who is flexible to adapt to changing priorities and organizational needs, able to operate independently in a fast-paced environment, and comfortable working cross-functionally with product, engineering, policy, marketing, operations and communications teams as well as other Legal department subgroups. This is a full-time position. This role will be based in London.

  • Act as primary legal advisor for product and engineering teams
  • Provide legal advice across complex and multifaceted legal issues, covering many subject areas, such as data protection and regulations, intermediary liability, consumer protection, data security, e-commerce, payments, integrity and other global legal frameworks applicable to WhatsApp
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze and communicate legal risks to the business
  • Coordinate with public policy, communications, product management, product marketing, trust and safety, and other cross-functional teams on external communications, policy development, product development and launches
  • Lead consensus building and drive coordination with other members of the Legal team
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required
  • UK qualified lawyer with 5+ years PQE of combined law firm and/or in-house experience with internet or technology companies
  • Experience with product or regulatory counseling related to the above subject areas
  • Experience successfully taking on projects involving unfamiliar subject matters, and working effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to professionalism and collegiality
  • Experience supporting a global team at a messaging services provider or other Internet services and technology company
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects
