Lead Counsel, Cybersecurity Law & Investigations

Facebook seeks a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as Lead Counsel, Cybersecurity Law & Investigations based in Menlo Park, California. The position will be responsible for protecting our network, facilities, users and their data by counseling our physical and information security teams, and by building and maintaining relationships with private and public sector entities focusing on Internet safety and security. The position will provide counsel and guidance to Facebook's security, integrity, product, and policy teams during product design and development, investigations, incident response, threat mitigation, policy development and implementation, and other areas that touch on cybersecurity. The position also will work directly with business and engineering teams to design and implement innovative privacy and security solutions, and generally support Facebook's industry-leading comprehensive cybersecurity program. LEAD COUNSEL, CYBERSECURITY LAW & INVESTIGATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Facebook's comprehensive cybersecurity program
  • Review and provide guidance on security practices, including applicable controls and certifications
  • Support developing cybersecurity policies, products, assessments, and reports
  • Develop and refine our cyber security controls, accountability frameworks and incident response processes - including in response to specific regulatory requirements
  • Work closely with Facebook Ireland to ensure integration and consistency of cybersecurity programs and compliance with GDPR
  • Work with Facebook's security, integrity, product, policy and other teams to constantly improve our physical and cybersecurity
  • Counsel teams in developing products with privacy and security by design
  • Maintain and update security investigation guidelines
  • Provide support and counsel during investigations to insure they are conducted and documented in an appropriate manner that minimizes risks and protects users' privacy
  • Support efforts to constantly maintain and enhance Facebook's security posture
  • Work with investigation teams to prevent spamming, fraud, malware, insider threats, and other abuse types on the platform
  • Support Facebook's Bug Bounty and Data Bounty Programs
  • Support and oversee the Threat Exchange product and other industry information sharing efforts
  • Willing to work off hours and overtime, including the weekend and occasionally holidays, in order to support emergency matters and interact with globally based company employees
  • Travel within the United States and occasionally abroad
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • JD and membership to at least one U.S. state bar
  • 5+ years of attorney experience working in the field of cybersecurity and privacy
  • Experience working with law enforcement authorities
  • Technical knowledge and experience related to cybersecurity and investigations
  • Experience handling incident response, including regulatory inquiries and managing interactions with outside counsel
  • Technical knowledge of cyber security issues/threats
  • Experience in US national security and cybercrime laws
  • Experience with cybersecurity standards, frameworks, risk assessments and certification processes, to include, for example: SOC 1&2, ISO/IEC 27001, 27002 and 27005, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and SP800-30, 37, 39, 53, PCI DSS, and COBIT
  • Presentation experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with global information networks
  • Experience with threat intel and cyber security vendor contracting
  • Experience working with data protection authorities, financial institutions, and Internet industry associations
