Lead Counsel, Content

Facebook seeks a highly motivated team player with experience handling intermediary liability issues to serve as Lead Counsel, Content. This role will tackle cutting-edge content issues on a global scale and support innovative content governance measures, such as the recently announced Oversight Board. The ideal candidate will have a background in user-generated content and legal regimes around the world relating to online intermediaries. This is a great opportunity to work closely with a variety of teams across the company and handle novel issues in an exciting and fast-paced environment.

LEAD COUNSEL, CONTENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advise on content, intermediary liability, and privacy-related issues related to the development and functioning of the Oversight Board
  • Provide legal advice on content posted by users on the company's services, including Facebook and Instagram
  • Develop and apply creative approaches to managing legal risks and resolving disputes
  • Work closely with global teams across different departments and offices, as well as an international network of outside counsel
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • JD degree and membership in at least one state bar
  • 5+ years of content or product-related experience, from in-house or at a law firm
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with intermediary liability issues and privacy laws around the world
  • Experience working with internet or technology companies
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and make sound judgments under tight deadlines
  • Fluency/conversational skill in foreign languages such as German or French
