Integration Engineer

As an Integration Engineer at FRL, you will partner with internal design teams in the development of high volume consumer products. You will function as an expert in Design for Excellence (DFx) methods and will advise mechanical and electrical design engineers in implementing DFx into their designs. You will guide the integration of product elements to achieve optimized designs. An additional function of this role is the verification of designs. You will lead design verification (DVE) activities including design for test, test planning, test execution, and tester development. As an expert in these areas, you will work with external partners to improve designs, define processes, and develop equipment to manufacture and verify industry leading products. We seek candidates with the ability to collaborate with internal design teams and external production partners to ensure robust product designs, testing methods, and manufacturing processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advise internal design teams in DFx (design for manufacturability, assembly, test and verification, safety, reliability, compliance, etc.)
  • Lead DFx activities including DFx reviews, Failure Modes and Effect Analyses (FMEA) for Design and Processes, and Process Reviews
  • Develop product design verification (DVE) plans, processes, methods, and equipment
  • Manage internal and external partner teams in the execution of design verification processes
  • Manage external vendors in the design, creation, and qualification of assembly and test equipment
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years industry experience in development and delivery of high volume products
  • Mass production experience (working with both domestic and overseas manufacturing) on multiple high volume consumer products
  • Demonstrated experience in DFx and Design Verification (DVE) methodologies for mechanical and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of fabrication and assembly processes including joining methods, sealing methods, mechanical assembly methods, and assembly testing
  • Demonstrated experience managing external vendors to deliver on schedule
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Knowledge with 2D and 3D tolerance analysis
  • BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with high speed automation and mechanized assembly and testing
  • Experience with high precision assembly processes for high volume products
  • MS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
