Facebook is seeking a seasoned professional to join our Infrastructure Construction Management team as a Scheduling Engineer. The Scheduling Engineer must be experienced in providing guidance on scheduling activities and advising internal site selection, design, pre-construction and construction teams. Our Infrastructure team is focused around data centers that are the foundation upon which our software operates with efficient ease. Building and operating data centers the "right" way from the day they go live is synonymous with ensuring capacity availability and capital conservatism. Architecting, constructing, operating and continually innovating the telecommunications and structured cabling infrastructure within our data centers is fundamental to ensuring high availability, the capacity to meet our extreme growth demands and obtaining the most robust and cost effective online service in the world! The successful candidate will service multiple projects on an on-going basis and provide a scheduling perspective to the site selection and strategic planning and analytics team throughout the pre-construction process. The selected candidate will also assist the Infrastructure Construction Management team in successfully launching new projects and tracking the status of projects under construction. This position is full-time and located in our Menlo Park office. However, the project locations will be spread across the United States and rest of the world. Managing stakeholders located across all regions and time zones is a significant challenge and is key to the success of our projects.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with pre-construction team, construction managers, design team and capacity planning teams to produce schedules to assist with project kick off, budget generation and construction timeframes.
  • Provide guidance to site selection and pre-construction team in developing schedules to understand required resources to successfully execute our projects. Schedules include resource planning, manpower loading and stakeholder coordination of internal Facebook teams and external vendors.
  • Ensure internal processes are followed and align expectations early on delivery timelines.
  • Assist in leading regular schedule status update meetings to share current status with others
  • Keep management well informed of changes to the project timeline as it develops.
  • Work in conjunction with the team's Subject Matter Experts (SME's) to understand the schedule impacts of new designs, materials and construction methods.
  • Strategic planning including assisting in developing project coordination and scheduling, procurement timeframes and reviewing contractor schedules.
  • Make recommendations to manage float and (re)sequence activities (if required) to achieve project milestone dates and interim target completion dates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, or equivalent technical degree and/or minimum of six (6) years direct professional experience in project planning, scheduling and construction management.
  • Experience in pre-construction programming and scheduling experience managing multi-group, multi-disciplinary development projects, data centers or similar technical construction projects.
  • Knowledge to understand the design and deployment of technical electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and understanding of standard practices in the design and construction industry, including knowledge of fast-track design-build process and associated documents and contracts.
  • Experience with ground-up construction and greenfield site development requirements.
  • Coordination skills to lead a team of diverse backgrounds and experience towards a single project outcome.
  • Communications/reporting skills.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Domestic and international travel required.
