Developer Operations Policy Manager

Our team makes sure the applications on our platform are high-quality and trustworthy. Working closely with other Facebook teams, we detect and investigate violations of our Platform Policies. Depending on the nature of the violation and the best interests of our users, we may take a variety of actions; everything from helping the developer fix the problem, to permanently removing the developer and application from our platform. We're working to improve the platform experience for both users and developers through the use of automated detection tools, strategic manual review, data analysis, developer guidance, and coordination with product engineers. A successful candidate for this role will be able to analyze the impact of policy and enforcement decisions, lead cross-functional projects, develop creative enforcement and compliance solutions, communicate effectively with both internal and external audiences, and make decisions in coordination with multiple Facebook teams.


  • Develop a strong understanding of our platform policies, our mechanisms for detecting violations, the guidance we provide developers, and the range of enforcement actions we take
  • Deliver database-sourced insights about our developers so we can more effectively respond to trends
  • Work closely with Facebook teams including policy, public communications, engineering, and sales
  • Understand and consider all perspectives in making enforcement decisions, and communicate those decisions to internal partners in a way that builds trust and respect within our ecosystem
  • Develop and lead projects to improve the consistency and efficiency of our enforcement actions, the efficiency of our detection and review mechanisms, and the guidance we provide to developers
  • Lead complex investigations of developers and devise methodologies to prevent future behaviors while taking appropriate enforcement actions
  • Communicate effectively with external developers and companies on sensitive matters including enforcement actions. This role may also require the management of a small team

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or higher
  • Familiarity with Facebook and the Facebook platform
  • Ability to take complex data and present it in a simple manner
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability with experiencing providing practical business insights from large data sets
  • Interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to influence outcomes and communicate technical content to general audiences
  • Experience in public relations, law, policy creation, or compliance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree with analytical focus or 5+ years work experience showing superior analytical skills
  • Experience in application development or data/statistical modeling
  • Experience managing people
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup environment
