Data and Insights Specialist - People Operations

The Data and Insights Specialist is responsible for ensuring operating efficiency and effectiveness of the data and insights for the People Operations team as well as identifying areas for improvement. This person will design and document daily, weekly, monthly reports and help identify trends in historical reports while partnering with diverse stakeholders to ensure their needs are met. Working knowledge of SQL and Workday is required.


  • Apply expertise in quantitative analysis and the presentation of data to inform, influence, support, and execute business decisions for the People Operations team
  • Prepare and build reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
  • Complete inventory of existing reports to identify redundancies, streamline reporting processes, and improve data accuracy
  • Monitor the integrity and validity of the data reported and provide details about data and analyses for HR leaders and partners
  • Partner with IT to improve operating efficiencies/effectiveness and work with internal teams to automate or streamline data collection processes
  • Manage change requests related to data or data collection processes
  • Document requirements with stakeholders and cross-functional partners (People Analytics and IT) on broader changes to core dashboard
  • Identify areas of opportunity to improve existing HRIS processes, functionality and work flow
  • Leverage tools, such as SQL, Tableau, Workday, and Excel to drive efficient analytics

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in a field that emphasizes analyzing, displaying, or reporting on data (e.g., computer science, math, engineering, economics, statistics, psychology), or equivalent data analysis work experience
  • 3+ years experience with SQL, Tableau, and HRIS systems
  • 3+ years experience with data management, specifically with validating and auditing data and reports from multiple systems
  • 3+ years experience with Workday and Workday data structures to build reports
  • Experience with statistical analysis
  • Quantitative aptitude with the ability to gather and interpret relevant data and information
  • Experience with MS Office suite, including Excel (vlookups, pivots, macros, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with HR/organizational people data (e.g. headcount, turnover, recruiting metrics, and other people analytics)
  • Experience differentiating basic data vs. sophisticated statistical analysis
  • Experience with data visualization principles
  • Ability to analyze and document complex business processes
  • Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance
  • Ability to communicate the results of analyses to multiple stakeholders
  • Project management and continuous improvement experience
  • Experience in a service-based industry
  • Ability to collect user feedback about their support needs and requirements and then turn those into results
  • Project and task management experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively to provide a positive user experience
