Data Analytics Specialist, Risk and Response (Core Ops)

The Risk & Response team seeks to identify and prioritize emerging external risks, lead investigations probing our systems to evaluate these risks, deliver action-oriented assessments to benefit our partners and users, and conduct post-mortem investigations to provide critical insights to our internal cross-functional stakeholders. We are seeking a Data Analytics Specialist with a passion for data and the underlying systems that produce them to help Risk & Response build, grow, and manage its data centric approach to surfacing, understanding, and mitigating risk. Successful candidates will excel at building and troubleshooting systems to produce high quality data & insights, coach and mentor teammates in analytical problem solving, and create scalable frameworks to help mitigate risk to Facebook.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, build, and maintain reports that provide holistic monitoring of operational performance and ownership of data architecture
  • Build early warning systems to aid in detection of problem trends, root cause analysis and help develop long range solutions
  • Work closely with Operations, Product, and Policy to proactively create and manage systems
  • Mine massive amounts of data and extract impactful insights that influence the strategy for Risk & Response
  • Liaise with Ops, Engineering, Data Science and Policy teams to provide solutions to technical problems and emerging challenges using a well thought, methodical, data-driven approach and prioritization
  • Mentor teammates to cultivate analytical skills in the broader team
  • Address sensitive content issues, including but not limited to graphic images, videos and writings, offensive or derogatory language, and other objectionable material
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • BA/BS degree in an analytical field (Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research Economics, etc.) or equivalent practical experience
  • 4+ years of experience working with data sets and experience with relational databases
  • Experience working with SQL, SAS, R and Python
  • Experience communicating results of technical analyses with non-technical partners and leadership teams to influence the strategy of those teams
  • Experience breaking down processes and identifying key pain points in order to deliver business improvements at the regional or global level
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience utilizing both qualitative analysis (e.g. content analysis, hypothesis testing) and quantitative analysis techniques (e.g. cluster analysis, descriptive and inferential statistics)
  • Self-starting, intellectually curious and creative individual comfortable operating in ambiguity - able to lead complex project with minimal guidance
