As a Data Scientist for Oculus Research Eye Tracking team, you will advance the state of human tracking technologies through rigorous scientific method. Working closely with a team of tracking experts, you will form unbiased data collection strategies to confirm or disprove hypotheses regarding novel tracking systems. You will identify key metrics, contribute to the Computer Vision algorithms necessary to evaluate these metrics, and provide reports to drive algorithm development. You will help build new eye tracking and gaze estimation methods by applying machine learning techniques.


  • Create computer vision algorithms to convert raw captures into an indexed database
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Devise data-driven techniques to characterize the performance of eye tracking systems
  • Drive novel eye-tracking algorithm development through analysis of large data sets
  • Develop strategies to optimize statistical efficiency and quality

Minimum Qualifications

  • MS with 5 years industry experience or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years' experience developing computer vision algorithms
  • C++ coding skills
  • Experience with algorithm evaluation and determination of success criteria

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Ruby
  • Knowledge in machine learning, Bayesian filtering, information theory, and 3D geometry
