Communications Director, India

Facebook is seeking an experienced Communications director to lead the company's communications efforts in India. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to build nation-wide and regional programs in India, manage issues and media relations, and be highly organized, energetic and detail-oriented. This role is based in Delhi, and will report to the Communications Director for APAC.


  • Develop, lead and execute communications strategies and initiatives to support Facebook's product, platform, monetization and policy efforts in India
  • Counsel cross-functional partners in policy, legal, marketing, and other groups within the company on a broad set of communications matters ranging from media engagement strategy to crisis management
  • Educate users, press, bloggers, analysts and influencers about core Facebook products and initiatives
  • Drive positive coverage across a broad range of media, including consumer, business and advertising trade outlets
  • Protect and enhance the reputation of Facebook and its products
  • Support and manage the creation of press materials and customer/partner reference programs
  • Have good understanding and knowledge of India
  • Respond to and route incoming media requests across India
  • Manage agency support in India
  • Organised press briefings, media sessions, events, prepare briefing materials and manage executive spokespeople

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelors' degree
  • post-graduate or professional degrees preferred
  • 15+ years professional experience, both agency and in-house preferred
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong people and managerial skills – need to be able to work with people at all levels, of different nationalities and manage a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully
  • Experience of complex policy issues on a national or international basis
  • Experience in the internet technology industry a plus
  • Passion for Facebook essential
