In this role, you will help manage supply based located in Asia that could span multiple commodity categories, primarily focus on Soft Goods and Packaging. You will work together with the US-based sourcing team to develop a flexible, effective and dependable supply base. You will also have a deep understanding of product roadmaps and their relationship to current and future supply chain. Work location is in Shanghai, China


  • Develop and execute robust supply base strategy in the hardware Packaging and Soft Goods category via full market knowledge, supplier rationalization, and industry leading commodity pricing plan, and total cost of ownership and cost modeling
  • Formulate sourcing strategies by perform market analysis to dissect market size, players, customers, growth, pricing trends, etc.
  • Provide strong sourcing support to ID and Packaging team in evaluating & selecting world class suppliers, keen to identify potential new technology, processes and material options for NPD and cost reduction
  • Promote a synergistic interaction among diverse teams: engineering, finance, marketing and field engineering
  • Work closely with regulatory compliance team on Soft Goods and Packaging supply base to meet Oculus product safety standard
  • On site management of manufacturing partners to support development builds, risk mitigation, and oversee product ramp-up and supply challenges
  • Support planning team to standardized the CTB (Clear to Build) material readiness planning and execution process at all key supplier factories
  • Evaluate technical and business risks using data based analysis and develop sound risk mitigation alternatives
  • Drive key commercial contract negotiation with suppliers and help foster strong working relationship with strategic suppliers
  • The ideal candidates will have a vast experience and knowledge on any of the areas: Packaging/Soft Goods/Mechanical engineering/Product design development & manufacturing processes

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Supply Chain management, or Operations
  • Packaging, Textile or mechanical engineering preferred
  • Minimum 7 years directly sourcing and supplier development experience in medium to high-volume consumer products, with minimum 5 year's focus on either Packaging or Soft Goods
  • Knowledge and experience in adhesives, fabric, and textile constructions & non-sewn fabrication processes
  • Knowledge in packaging materials (plastic, paper, pulp tray, foam, etc.), components and assembly manufacturing processes and cost structure
  • Advanced negotiation skills
  • Effective communication skills with external supplier partners, and internal senior management, multifunction team members
  • Strong project leadership and cross-functional team management experience
  • Financial statement analysis and cost modelling experience
  • Extensive travel within China with some travel in Asia Pacific region
  • Ability to deliver business results in strict adherence to zero-tolerance ethical guidelines
