Camera and Depth Modules Lead

Facebook Reality Labs(FRL), the research division for AR/VR for Facebook, is looking for a world-class Camera and Depth Modules Lead to develop the next generation imaging and depth sensor modules for AR and VR devices. The successful candidate will be part of the sensing team innovating, developing and integrating hardware and algorithms for future generations of HMD devices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive definition, design, development, and integration of mobile high-quality camera and depth modules including sensors, optics, light sources, image processing and depth processing
  • Execute module development and system integration with internal research and engineering teams, and third-party vendors
  • Define and develop depth processing algorithms
  • Create technology road map from proof of concepts to final form factor, low power, high performance imaging and depth modules to be incorporated into HMDs
  • Define testing and qualification plans of the modules at different stages of the development, from concept to product ramp
  • Managing all technical aspect of external partnerships. Oversee technology and product development with external partners throughout all phases of execution
  • International and domestic travel is required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS/MS/PhD in Optics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Imaging Science, Physics or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in imaging camera (RGB, IR) and depth camera (stereo, structured light, ToF) development, sensing system design and integration
  • 5+ years experience in light projector and illumination system design
  • 5+ years experience in depth imaging system signal processing and calibration
  • Knowledge of overall systems interactions in the image pipeline
  • Knowledge of computer vision algorithms and applications
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and owning responsibility for project
  • Experience programming with C/C++, OpenGL, Python, MATLAB, etc. languages
  • Working knowledge across the following areas with experience:
  • -Standard imaging interfaces and protocols in the typical consumer platform
  • -Compact lens optics design & testing
  • -Camera module mechanical design and tolerance analysis
  • -Camera module electronic circuit design and signal integrity & power integrity analysis
  • -Image sensor characterization and design
  • -Depth sensing hardware development
  • -Image quality evaluation methodology (test algorithm, chart, lab setup)
  • -Camera module manufacturing process development
