Acoustic Design Engineer

The Oculus Audio Team is looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on Acoustic Design Engineer. The successful candidate will be an instinctive engineer who involves their head, heart, and hands in the design process. We are looking for meaningful experience in all aspects of audio system design - from building up early proof-of-concept's, product development and testing, through to production readiness. The ideal engineer employs data driven design, objective and subjective audio evaluation, and a common sense mindset to complex engineering challenges. The best fit for the role will be a personable communicator who is able to describe audio activities in a clear and concise manner, relating qualitative experience to quantitative data.

ACOUSTIC DESIGN ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define Objective Performance targets.
  • Define Acoustic Systems (Speaker, Microphone, Amplifier, Power Delivery, and Audio Chain).
  • Develop POC demos to establish performance and cross-functional and leadership approval.
  • Lead Factory test design and specification.
  • Serve as the Primary cross-functional interface with other Hardware Engineering disciplines, PD/PM/ID/EE/etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of experience in Audio Systems or Acoustic Engineering.
  • Experience launching of Consumer Device product line.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Acoustics, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or similar work experience.
  • Audio system design experience.
  • Experience designing Transducers.
  • Experience leading Acoustic test design in lab and factory facilities.
  • Product Development experience utilizing 3D Modeling Software (NX or SolidWorks), FEA (COMSOL or Ansys), MATLAB, and Max MSP.
