Position Summary

The job of a Sr User Experience (UX) Designer at F5 Networks is to learn and understand the needs of our users, envision how users should experience our products, and then bring that vision to life in a way that feels inspired and thoughtful. The Sr UX Designer must care for the user and take satisfaction in enhancing their job by making daily tasks easier and more enjoyable. This UX role will need to tackle complex information architecture and interaction problems and create domain specific designs that will be used by people all over the world. The position requires collaboration with engineers, technical writers, sales teams, and product managers. Candidates must have a portfolio available for review.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with program and product management, software development and our customers to create world class user experiences for F5 products
  • Translate business requirements and user needs into user interface designs
  • Create task flow mockups and prototypes integrating feedback from product teams and end-users
  • Develop detailed interaction and visual design guidelines
  • Contribute in setting the long-term vision for our products and their user experience
  • Influence and educate the product teams in user-centered design principles and development processes
  • Function as a subject matter expert to internal and external partners and stakeholders
  • Perform heuristic evaluations and usability studies
  • Act as a leader, mentor, and influencer on the UX team
  • Own responsibility for the design of entire feature sets
  • Responsible for upholding F5's Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong conceptual skills and demonstrated ability to rapidly prototype and design to communicate ideas
  • Ability to work independently and manage work to meet project timelines
  • Proven ability to act as a leader in communicating conceptual ideas and design rationale, all within a user-centered design process.
  • Ability to tailor design process to multiple projects
  • Expert knowledge of common design tools such as Illustrator or Axure
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art in human interface design guidelines (Apple, Google Material Design etc.).
  • Must demonstrate strong interaction design skills and have a solid understanding of user centered design principles/standards and design patterns
  • Must demonstrate strong visual design skills and have a solid understanding of current visual trends
  • Must have extensive experience working closely with development teams on implementation
  • Demonstrable ability for solving complex design problems
  • Proven track record of applying user-centered design processes and methods to product development and releasing/shipping complex web or desktop applications
  • Strong communication, documentation and interpersonal skills working in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment preferred
  • Strong understanding of single-page application design and working knowledge of CSS, SASS etc., would be highly desirable.
  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.
  • Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
  • Duties may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, up to 5% of their time.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in one or more of these disciplines: Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, or other related field
  • 6+ years of professional experience UX experience
  • 4+ years of complex application design preferred
