Sr. Technical Writer

Position Summary:

This position is responsible to produce high-quality documentation for F5's security product line. This position will also manage technical content related projects and produce deliverables that include online help, guides, videos, knowledge articles and release notes. The Senior Technical Writer will work independently, as part of a team, and as a project lead.

This job opportunity utilizes your writing abilities and project management skills using the latest tools and methods to create and publish customer facing content. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work with subject matter experts to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.
  • Identify and project plan for business needs and produce content deliverables.
  • Manage and lead projects from design to release ready.
  • Participate in cross functional planning meetings and work on multiple projects.
  • Provide innovation and creativity in producing technical content.
  • Use documentation standards, styles, processes, and methods when developing content.
  • Be proficient in the use of technical communication tools used to create content.
  • Organize and facilitate content review process.
  • Create tutorials or videos for certain use cases, as required.
  • Provide updates to managers, project partners and team members as needed.
  • Participate in internal and external training programs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Advanced experience in writing software documentation using industry standard writing and publishing technologies and practices such as XML, Topic Based Authoring, AEM etc.
  • Exceptional writing, interpersonal, organizational, communication and project management skills
  • Ability to establish successful relationships and work with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work, partner, and brief senior leadership
  • Ability to work and meet deadlines independently
  • Experience working in a security or networking organization a plus
  • Ability to act as a leader on the Technical Writing Team
  • Ability to identify and project plan for business needs
  • Experience creating short instructional videos
  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.


Qualifications:
  • BA or BS degree in Technical Publications, Engineering, Computer Science, English, or related degree
  • Six or more years in technical content creation
  • Five or more years working in the tech field
  • History of increasing responsibility in previous positions
