Position Summary

Located in Beijing, China

The F5 Solution Architect(SA) is a technical customer service role supporting sales and promoting customer satisfaction as part of a region Account Team. Working with large and medium-sized financial customers, the SA assumes the lead in architectural design, specification, and maintenance of F5 company products in a pre-sales environment. Working with field customer engineers and account managers, SAs are responsible for troubleshooting complex technical issues during customer installations.


  • Responsible for upholding F5's Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
  • Support the Sales and Pre-Sales teams in a technical role by increasing System Engineers(SE) knowledge, revenue, and customer satisfaction
  • Work with field customer engineers and account managers, providing support during at different stage of the sale process
  • Work with the region presales director to analyze region business and market and define strategies
  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge of F5 financial solution focus and develop an effective solution plan and strategy for region
  • Become established as the primary technical reference in the region by building trust and credibility with customers; partners and internal colleagues
  • Act as an F5 financial solution evangelist
  • Coordinate Subject Matter Expert team (SME) team and SME skill development to help them become autonomous
  • Apply business skills and consulting methodologies to gather and analyze data, lead design, and develop and implement solutions while meeting customer expectations
  • Develop and communicate the F5 value proposition to customers and partners. Assume a lead support role in working with strategic accounts (customers) and strategic partners in collaboration with the Local Sales team
  • Serve as a bridge between customer and market requirement and F5 product development and Product Management
  • Deliver presentations to customers and partners
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Highly organized with strong communication, presentation and consultative experience and skills across a diverse set of security technology solutions
  • Able to present and articulate value proposition to decision makers, CIOs, CTOs, CEOs etc.
  • Able to articulate client needs to build a requirements document based on discovery information obtained
  • Demonstrate a strong technical aptitude to define customers issues and to propose solutions for customer needs and expectations
  • Deep understanding for financial sector application architectures, Fintech solutions
  • Knowledge across multiple areas of security technology solutions including WAF, DDOS, IPS/IDS, FW/VPN, SSL VPN, End Point (client security), log management, end-to-end application level security
  • Layer 4-7 Application Knowledge: HTTP, DNS, FTP, SSL
  • Network knowledge and experience of Routing (L2/3), and TCP/IP
  • Expert in various OS: Windows Server 2000/2003/2008, UNIX, Linux etc.
  • Experience in using sniffer technologies or packet tracing technologies such as WireShark, Ethereal, TCP dump, etc.
  • Relevant industry certifications or equivalent experience for information security products from vendors (candidate is required to have at least one certification in at least one product from one vendor)
  • The following Security Certifications: CISSP, SANS GIAC, CISM, or equivalent is required

Language Requirements
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English and Mandarin fluently.

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experiences in pre-sales and solution architect role working with design and delivery/implementation of information security/risk management products and assessment methodologies
  • BA/BS degree or above
  • Work as a flexible team player - independently as well as collaboratively
  • Manage difficult/challenging conversations

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Duties are performed on-site at a customer facility or data center, or in an office environment sitting at a desk or computer table.
  • Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
  • Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
  • Duties may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 80% of the time spent traveling.
