What will you do?
As the team manager, you will recruit a team of quality assurance engineers for our local and global development efforts. You will work with our Seattle team to use established tools and adapt processes to support global delivery. Your team will ensure we deliver quality solutions for our corporate customers by running the test process from initial script design through the development of automated regression suites. You will find the defects that could impact the performance and accuracy of our systems and work with development teams to resolve.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Use your professional network to recruit and onboard a talented team of security
Screen resumes, conduct interviews and select new hires
Conduct orientation for new team members
Lead and inspire a team
Define clear and measurable performance goals
Create development plans to grow and retain team members
Coach and evaluate performance
Develop standards and process for testing
Develop, document and ensure adoption of standards, process and best practices for IT QA.
Assign and coach testing leads for large projects and take ownership for quality practices and outcomes.
Serves a mentor to less experienced team members
Design and support test automation tools and processes
Design and contribute to components of a test automation framework that supports integration, scheduled regression and on-request execution of tests.
Plan and design/develop the tools/systems needed to make test automation execution and reporting accessible to IT staff.
Plan for and design/develop the tools/systems needed for application performance testing (user experience, progressive change, load, stress, etc.).
Manage team members conducting quality assurance testing for all stages of development with tasks including:
Contribute user stories to automated test development backlog using existing manual test scripts, project requirements, support tickets and on request from IT technical staff.
Develop automated test cases as prioritized using team-selected tools.
Work closely with developers, analysts and system administrators as QA SME to model and foster the implementation of IT QA practices into projects and production support activities
Schedule/execute automated tests and use tools execute requested testing
Report findings, log defects and ensure an appropriate disposition for each
Maintain test automation application(s) (sustaining engineering)
What do you need to be successful in this role?
A deep and broad understanding of concepts of automation and performance testing required
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills with high degree of fluency in English
Network of local contacts to help locate the best qualified hires
Proven experience managing a team to achieve positive results
Confidence to work independently in a global delivery environment
Ability to provide exceptional support to both internal and external customers
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced, changing environment
Demonstrate excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
Demonstrate knowledge of continuous integration; build and deploy automation tools, highly desirable
What will we look for on your resume?
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IS, or equivalent experience
7+ years of experience in all phases of testing with heavy exposure to automation
Proficient in at least in 2 test automation tools, including but not limited to Oracle OATS, Selenium, HP/Mercury QTP/ALM, SOAtest, JMeter, Soap UI) required
Experience with databases and solid SQL skills required
Experience multiple software development methodologies/lifecycles required
Experience with testing of data-driven and event-driven architectures required
Strong programming knowledge of at least 2 of the following: Java, C#, C++
Advanced Java development skills desirable
