An exciting opportunity to join the EMEA legal team of a market leading, NASDAQ listed technology company that was named a 'Best Place to Work' by the 2015 Glassdoor Employees' Choice Awards. This is a multi-jurisdictional role that will give you a diverse range of work in a fast paced environment and the opportunity to enhance existing technology law experience as well as develop new skills.

The EMEA Corporate Counsel will manage and mitigate the Company's legal risks and exposures while providing timely and accurate legal support to all the EMEA functions including the sales, services, finance, procurement, marketing and human resources teams.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Negotiating customer facing commercial agreements, including: sales, license (EULA), cloud licensing, services, consulting, OEM, pricing, reseller and distributor agreements
  • Negotiating inbound agreements for non-core products and services (eg, facilities' agreements, professional services agreements, IT services agreements, agreements with marketing agencies and leases)
  • Supporting GDPR and compliance initiatives
  • Assisting with the review of channels programs for anti-trust compliance
  • Supporting new entity set up across EMEA
  • Supporting corporate affairs teams with reviewing corporate filings
  • Proactively assessing new laws and regulations for business impact
  • Other special projects as assigned


Other Responsibilities
  • Assisting with the review of internal policies and updating the same
  • Assisting in the management of disputes and employee issues
  • Assisting with review of marketing campaigns for data privacy compliance and ensuring compliance with local laws
  • Working with the wider legal team to ensure compliance with F5's Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
  • Providing periodic training to sales teams on anti-trust compliance, key legal terms and commercial templates
  • Creating EMEA specific template agreements
  • Attending weekly meetings with various internal stakeholders
  • Ensuring prudent use of external legal resources


Qualifications/Experience
-Law degree from a well-regarded UK or European university with strong academic credentials
  • Admission to practice in at least one European jurisdiction
  • A number of years' post qualification experience (PQE) including in-house experience in a technology company or equivalent private practise experience in the technology group of a law firm
  • European language skills a plus


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to review, draft and negotiate technology and commercial agreements of a complexity commensurate with 4/5 years' PQE
  • A solid understanding of contract law and key commercial principles
  • Ability to communicate effectively with sales professionals as well as lawyers and procurement personnel of customers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Data privacy experience a strong plus
  • Experience working in a cloud or software environment also a strong plus
  • Knowledge of technology transfer and software-related agreements with a focus on cloud licensing would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property law and related transactions beneficial.


The role will be based primarily in London, with travel to the Chertsey office once a week / fortnight
