Associate Systems Engineer - Sales

Position Summary:

The Associate Systems Engineer (ASE) is an entry-level technical position supporting sales and promoting customer happiness with teams working on automation and orchestration of their application deployments. This role works closely with field sales teams to identify prospects, assess customer needs, and propose first-pass solution designs. Experience with CI/CD and devops processes are not required but are a significant benefit.

No sales experience is required for this position. Instead, we are looking for candidates with some background or education in coding who are passionate about the opportunity to talk about product design lifecycle across a variety of industries. Over the first year, this role will be provided training and career path mentoring to develop further as an SE. SEs serve as trusted advisors to clients looking to modernize their application and security environments. Few jobs in IT provide the visibility into the most urgent challenges facing our customers or the impact of influence available to an F5 SE.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with senior SE mentors in support of the field sales effort by identifying and qualifying prospects
  • Evangelize the F5 solution portfolio via online demonstrations/presentations, and conversations with customers and prospects.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of technical knowledge of F5 product set, the relevant industry, and Sales aptitude
  • Articulate technical and business value of F5 Solutions against competitors.
  • Participate in the development and support of content (presentations, white papers, use cases...) and technical solutions for customers and partners
  • Foster a collaborative, team-based environment, sharing best practices and success and building positive relationships
  • Effectively negotiate and pursue conflict resolution
  • Works hands on programming F5 products in support of building customer solutions
  • Responsible for upholding F5's Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to present to technical audiences and balance objections
  • Ability to effectively/quickly evaluate customer challenges
  • Dedication to details and high-quality work
  • Strong written, oral, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in some of the following:
  • Strong programming skills in one or more modern development languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Node, Go etc.)
  • High-level knowledge of networking concepts
  • Working knowledge of cloud technologies and platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Experience with Git or other code management solutions
  • Basic technologies/concepts around cloud (e.g, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, REST API, etc.), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift), and automation & orchestration
  • DevOps methodology and/or frameworks
  • Basic information security concepts/challenges/technologies


Qualifications:
  • Technical degree from a 2- or 4-year college or equivalent on the job experience
  • 1+ year experience in a corporate work environment
  • Fluent in English
