The Storage and Virtualization Engineer (SVST) is responsible for being the technical lead and escalation point for implementing and maintaining all aspects of our client’s SAN technology. This includes daily support incidents, troubleshooting replication issues, hardware/ONTAP software installations, upgrades, and vSphere maintenance.

He/she interfaces with high profile financial industry clients on a daily basis thus requiring the highest level of presentation, communication and professionalism. In addition, the SVST Engineer is required to multitask in a fast paced and high-pressure environment and have the ability to learn and implement new technologies quickly and efficiently.

Position Responsibilities

  • Implementation:
    1. Deploys/upgrades storage and virtualization solutions (production and disaster recovery) for new and existing Clients
  • Maintenance:
    1. Monitors the performance, storage and utilization of storage and virtualization, and recommends enhancements based on findings
    2. Maintains client’s production and disaster recovery environment which includes; testing and turn up
    3. Contributes to knowledge base of support issues and resolutions
  • Troubleshooting:
    1. Supports recovery of clients’ environment in the event of system failure or disaster
    2. Provides Tier 2 escalation of Client’s Support Team to diagnose and resolve issues in client’s environments, coordinating with internal resources and vendors
  • Engages in self-directed continuous improvement and learning of SVST products:
  1. Investigates and follows both industry and ECI best practices and updates ECI standards
  2. Documents standards on the ECI WIKI
  3. Participates in scheduled Support and Product Team meetings


Position Requirements
  • BA/BS degree in computer science, business or related field

Technical Experience
  • Advanced knowledge of and comprehensive experience in deploying and managing:
    1. Microsoft Windows Server 2008-2019
    2. Active Directory
    3. Exchange 2007-2019
    4. Microsoft SQL Server 2005-2019
    5. Dell PowerEdge and HP Proliant Servers
    6. Cisco UCS a plus
    7. Data Backup and Recovery with Symantec Backup Exec or similar Enterprise Software
    8. Symantec Antivirus or similar Enterprise Software
  • Thorough understanding of networking and distributed computing concepts, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS, Routing, Switching and Firewalls, server virtualization, client/server applications, disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Experience implementing and supporting Cisco based Ethernet networks (Enterprise level) with Cisco PIX/ASA firewalls, and catalyst switches
  • Financial Industry Experience including familiarity with market vendor applications
  • Experience with Linux or Solaris
  • Scripting knowledge (PowerShell, VB, Batch)
  • Must have a strong understanding of NetApp & VMWare products and architecture
  • Knowledge of Nimble and EMC storage is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of general storage technologies: iSCSI, FC, FCoE, NAS, Snapshots
  • Prior experience or familiarity with alternative storage and virtualization products and *NIX operating systems or Oracle databases is a plus


Working Conditions
  • Ability to work in an independent environment with moderate supervision
  • Ability to work under a moderate noise level (i.e. working on an open floor with printers, telephones, and computers)
  • Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines (including late nights and weekends)
  • Ability to travel for business and work beyond normal business hours when necessary
  • Ability to be flexible and successfully respond to multiple work pressures
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals
