SAP Basis Administrator

Summary of Major Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the technical implementation, support, and maintenance for multiple instances of SAP ERP. This role requires extensive knowledge of the basis support function, authorization, and a strong understanding of the integration points to other SAP modules such as MM, Purchasing, SD, and PP.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day business with open issues and new business requirements as the technical lead for the SAP ERP application
  • Manage the day-to-day basis support for SAP including system monitoring, backups, user access administration, license audits, and system architecture
  • Support growing business with global rollouts and new implementations including process and system design, integration testing, user training, and post go-live support
  • Coordinate and assist with the management of vendor support activities
  • Conduct / Recommend Configuration
    • Deliver hands-on day to day SAP global production support, including the coordination with team members, external consultants, and SAP OSS.
    • Work with key business users to configure and modify SAP to meet business requirements using Best Practices.
  • Conduct and Support System Testing
  • Provides oversight to other SAP modules in the Company
  • Assist management in planning future business systems improvements
  • Interface with external consultants in support of business systems and applications


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field with 5+ years IT experience
  • Minimum 3+ years hand-on configuration experience in SAP Basis or other SAP technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to operate in a cross cultural and complex matrix environment, and ability to build consensus across functions
  • Adaptable, open to change and able to work in ambiguous situations and respond to new information or unexpected circumstances
  • Experience with SAP project methodology and tools
  • Experience with third party Apps such as Workday, Concur, etc. is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in supporting a global organization
  • Experience working with onshore and offshore 3rd parties

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with SAP ECC 6.0 and S/4HANA
  • Experience with full life cycle implementation or version upgrade experience from blue print to go live
  • Life Sciences industry knowledge
  • cGMP Validation and Compliance knowledge
  • SOX knowledge and expertise
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience working on small fast paced project teams
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with all levels of management
  • Ability to take business requirements from concept to production
  • Proven ability to define user requirements and corresponding system specifications, accurate time estimates and creation of clear and concise documentation
  • Collaborate with partners effectively; experience working with offshore teams
