Senior Director - UX and Research

At Eventbrite, we aim to deliver groundbreaking event organizer tools and attendee experiences, globally. We’re looking for an experienced leader to head up our UX team and be an evangelist for user-centered design and the importance of research throughout the organization.

The Eventbrite Design team is a centralized, multi-disciplinary group of Designers and Researchers who work across product groups. We are specialists within our individual products, as well as generalists across the Eventbrite platform. Partnering with Product Managers, Engineers and other Designers, we conceptualize and craft designs for features that will have a major impact across our ecosystem of products.

You will report to the VP of Design and apply your research and user-centered design expertise to elevate the UX practice. You will guide the use of the right design and research methods for a variety of circumstances, moving skillfully across the spectrums of qualitative and quantitative, divergent and convergent, attitudinal and behavioral. You will work within a dynamic, Agile environment leading enthusiastic, creative team members and collaborating with cross functional teams. This role is about looking towards the future and guiding work to ensure we have the right strategy executed in the most effective way. You should have a proven track record of developing design and research talent on your team, so they become leaders with vision and influential, authoritative voices on behalf of our customers and prospects.

  • Lead a team of UX Designers and Researchers. Coach your team through reviews and feedback. Understand their career goals and act as an advocate in supporting their career growth. Raise the capacity, skills and quality of user-centered design on your team

  • Develop and lead the UX team to improve the range of research methods used, including: ethnographic field studies, prototype/concept tests, lab-based usability studies, quantitative analysis from surveys and data, etc.
  • Advance our ability to effectively communicate research insights in ways that make them easily understood and actionable by partners
  • Participate in all phases of UX design to provide expertise and mentorship. Phases will include identifying target user personas, choosing proper user research activities, discovering underlying user needs, guiding strategy, developing design specifications and interactive prototypes
  • Have a real passion for good design
  • Employ design thinking and questioning techniques to develop strategies and execution plans where pathways are not always obvious
  • Consistently demonstrate strong leadership abilities and judgement. Able to make decisions at the right level, and make the right calls consistently
  • Contribute to a creative and insights-driven culture at Eventbrite by eliminating research obstacles and evangelizing research methods, so Eventbrite teams can learn the right way to conduct their own studies and gain insights about their customers, when appropriate
