Relationship Manager, Payment Operations

The team plays the dominant role in managing all external payments partnerships including card brands, acquiring banks and processors while overseeing all daily operations for incoming and outgoing payments. The Relationship Manager will be a key member of a Payments Operations team, working alongside engineering, risk and product teams to execute and support our global payments strategy. The role will report to the Senior Relationship Manager of Payments Operations. This position is full-time and will be based in Brooklyn.

About the Role:

  • Optimize payments operation, reliability, quality, cost of payment methods and relationships using rigorous, data and analytics to evaluate performance
  • Maximize current partnerships through detailed and dedicated account management, working with partners to define, iterate, stabilize and enable new initiatives and products
  • Build and manage new strategic relationships with our payment industry partners and lead recurring business reviews to ensure continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with partners to improve points of failures, drive and resolve partner incidents with urgency, document processes and drive accountability / performance against contracted service levels
  • Identify improvements we can make to existing relationships with vendors
  • Contribute towards iterating Etsy’s comprehensive global payments strategy in the dynamic mobile payments space
  • Understand Etsy’s competitive position and implement changes with partners to further Etsy payments products, services and strategic objectives
  • Help expand payments footprint globally through new and existing payments partnerships
  • Research and analyze industry trends and opportunities for Etsy to further distinguish its positioning and payments products
  • Oversee and manage outage response process  

About You

  • 3+ years of partner or relationship management experience; experience in the payments industry is preferred
  • You bring deep analytical skills that drive the development of reporting, tools and other business processes to smooth operations and enable analysis of nascent industry movements
  • You have the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and interact across diverse roles including engineers, business partners and executive leadership
  • You have very strong written and verbal communications skills that can skillfully articulate operational issues and insights to internal and external partners
  • Positive and strong relationship building skills with leaders and technical teams to make things happen
  • The ability to develop consensus and drive teams to decisions
  • You are comfortable working with multiple partners, including motivating them to action, communicating requirements and creating accountability to deadlines.
  • Familiarity and/or experience in e-commerce, marketplaces, card not present transactions and/or merchant payments
  • You have a can do, will do, will learn attitude
  • You have an undergraduate degree from an accredited university
