Engineering Manager, Localization & Translation - San Francisco

Etsy is seeking an Engineering Manager to join our San Francisco Software Engineering organization.

As Etsy Engineering grows, so does our need to develop our leadership ranks. You'll be tasked with attracting, mentoring, guiding, and retaining some of the best talent in the industry while shipping platform-critical software that will be used by customers around the globe.

The technical staff at Etsy believes that code is craft, good software and systems designs are works of art, and that the work we do is part of a larger creative culture represented by the hundreds of thousands of inspired artists and designers who make Etsy such a wondrous marketplace. We believe that small, empowered, self-motivated teams can do big, impactful things. We also believe in the right tool for the job, not language-as-religion. Our current systems run PHP, Java, Python, Ruby, Solr/Lucene, Postgres, MySQL, and more. Check out posts from and about our team on Code as Craft: Building a Translation Memory, Modeling Spelling Correction.

You will have a major impact in all of these areas and help our 31.2 million buyers find what they’re looking for among our 1.9 million sellers’ listings, especially crossing borders and languages in our global marketplace.

This is a full-time role located in our San Francisco office.

About You

  • You are enthusiastic and passionate about what you do, and use that to help motivate diverse groups.
