The Principal, Risk Management is a tactical leadership position that requires experience and knowledge of emerging methods used to collect, organize, structure and search large amounts of data found in traditional databases, and gathered from non-traditional sources.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing, testing, and implementing in software applications the kinds of methods that are highly effective for discovering and communicating meaningful patterns in data.
Primary Responsibilities and Activities:
The Principal will lead the ongoing building and execution of an analytics program and must be experienced in developing a methodical risk-based approach to understanding operationally critical business processes, the data involved, and the IT systems that enable them to operate. The role is responsible for building tools that can identify risks and key risk indicators in areas where the Information Security team can then conduct further inquiry.
As a member of the information security risk management team, with direct access into enterprise-level data resources, candidates will need a proven track record of developing, testing, implementing in software applications the kinds of methods that are highly effective for discovering and communicating meaningful patterns in data. This person must be self-directed and capable of building and maintaining analytical models, and implementing methods that are used for risk testing and risk rating. They must be familiar with following a standardized framework of technical protocols and risk assessment guidelines, and should have some level of familiarity in using risk management processes such as OCTAVE or FAIR.
As an individual contributor, the candidate will need to quickly and independently validate data sets, build and troubleshoot analytical solutions based on the testing plans created by the Cyber-security team, their own operational understanding of the business, as well as developing an understanding for internal audit, risk and compliance expectations involved.
Required Minimum Experience:
SQL - minimum of 3 years of experience
Designing and building analytics tools in Tableau - minimum of 1 year of experience
Big data analysis - minimum of 1 year of experience
Requirements analysis and documentation - minimum of 10 years of experience
Data validation, analysis, and debugging - minimum of 3 years of experience
Exposure to quantitative finance field through education or work experience
Advanced user level proficiency in statistical software such as SAS, R, Stata, MATLAB
Solid skills in MicroSoft Excel and experience with quantitative analytics software such as Tableau, ACL or SAS is a must
Strong foundation in statistics (or econometrics) and applied mathematics
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in ACL, SQL and relational databases
Desire to work in financial services industry
Ability to understand the descriptions of statistical techniques in research papers and to implement them in software
Quantitative risk management certification in FRM or PRM aplus
Experience in Internal or IT audit highly valuable

Either a graduate degree in relevant quantitative fields (finance, statistics, economics, etc.) or an undergraduate degree with 5 years of relevant experience
