About the role
Our Design team has tripled in size and has added new functions in the last 3.5 years. As a result, our team reached a certain maturity that requires more organizational help. The Design Ops Director will manage the operations of the design organization to create the highest level of efficiency and impact, by focusing on strategy, process, people, tools, collaboration, and success metrics. Additionally, this role will require strong collaboration with the design leadership to evangelize Design Thinking across teams and foster a strong culture and community for designers. The Design Ops Director will report to the Executive Director of Design and UX.

Responsibilities
  • Drive our operational strategy (metrics, culture, people, resources, planning, and process)
  • Manage our design process
  • Ensure design teams move efficiently along our design process, bringing customers along the way, tracking progress and meeting deadlines
  • Manage reviews with stakeholders and ensure a 'Path to Yes' for designers
  • Ensure all design roles are defined, understood and put into action during development phases
  • Facilitate project management of cross-functional design teams workstream to ensure delivery against quality standards and timelines
  • Partner with Tech to ensure our design activities are integrated and followed through during the product development lifecycle
  • Create monthly reporting of design metrics and team activities to amplify design work
  • Collaborate with our Voice of the Customers to gather feedback and share information to the appropriate product design teams
  • Own the relationships with our tool partners such as InVision, Figma, Zeplin and MURAL, and manage contract renewals, introduce new tools and setup training for designers
  • Own all aspects of our team career's development from identifying resources and skills, hiring process, onboarding new members, defining design role levels
  • Support design leadership to establish an environment and culture where designers can do their best work


REQUIREMENTS

Technical Skills Needed
  • Thorough knowledge of user-centered design principles and approach
  • Experience operationalizing design
  • Experience in project management - delivering on time and to the quality agreed
  • Experience working with Tech and Agile methodologies
  • Thorough knowledge of working with design systems
  • Thorough knowledge of accessibility standards and value
  • Experience working with UX writers and user researchers
  • Experience with the Jobs-to-be-done framework


Soft Skills Needed
  • Passion for designing digital products
  • Strong people management skills
  • Great communicator
  • Great team player with respectful attitude
  • Successful track record of relationship building, problem solving and quick execution
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects without compromising quality


Qualifications
  • 15+ years in UX Design required
  • College or University degree required in related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Digital portfolio to review
