Solution Engineer - Sales Enablement

Put these qualities to work as a Sales Enablement Engineer, where you’ll have the opportunity to enable and equip our Global Business Development team with knowledge, insight, and proven patterns that help position the vision, value, and successful adoption of Esri’s platform.



  • Understand and promote the use of Esri’s sales process, internal tools, technology, and selling methodology to improve sales productivity
  • Be the technical expert of Esri’s complete platform including implementation patterns and best-practices
  • Become a subject matter expert of the high tech market
  • Lead and participate in a cross-divisional team responsible for the development and management of a set of industry playbooks that deliver authoritative industry intelligence, sales messaging, and demonstration collateral
  • Monitor and measure sales team adoption and effectiveness of playbook collateral
  • Train new sales team members on best use of playbook collateral
  • Test and implement industry-based solution patterns with strategic customers
  • Establish customer reference sites that promote the vision and value of Esri’s location platform
  • Act as a liaison between the Business Development, Marketing, Professional Services, and Product teams
  • Support key events such as annual sales kick offs and other major events


  • Five-plus years of sales experience in the high tech industry
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and listening skills
  • Experience promoting software platform and solutions to executive audiences
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function in a teaching capacity, helping sales leaders to achieve goals
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively alongside a cross-divisional team
  • Excellent project management skills including training, planning, prioritization, objective setting, meeting management, and plan execution
  • A minimum of five years of experience with the ArcGIS platform using editing tools, performing spatial analysis, and creating geodatabases
  • Experience with DBMS technology such as SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, and Access
  • Five or more years of related technology experience
  • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts in addition to on-premise solutions
  • Bachelor’s or master’s in geography, computer science, or a related field

Recommended Qualifications:

  • Prior sales enablement and training experience
  • Experience in technical consulting and conceptual solution design
  • Ability to set a vision and lead change
  • Ability to recognize and interpret opportunities and recommend solutions
  • Willingness to adhere to and analyze standards/procedures while consistently looking for ways to improve processes
  • Knowledge of Salesforce.com
  • Understanding of enterprise deployment patterns and best-practices
  • Some programming and scripting experience with Python, JavaScript, iOS, Android, HTML5
  • Experience integrating software solutions with other business systems including data warehousing, BI, CRM, ERP, and analytics platforms
  • Experience with apps such as Facebook, Evernote, Box, etc. and capable of leveraging data from those apps and other web environments
