Senior Technical Writer - Developer Experience

You are a technical writer interested in speaking to developers regarding location APIs, geography, maps, data analysis, and science. You have a passion for clearly focused writing and helping developers get the most from their investment. Come to work for the global leader in geographic information systems and have a direct impact helping developers address climate change, disaster response, biodiversity, smart cities, and much more. Blend your passion for writing and technology to help us write better developer documentation for Esri’s APIs and SDKs. Help us improve our developer documentation and developer outreach by working with product engineers, other technical writers, and other stakeholders to help write and edit developer-focused web pages, help topics, tutorials, API references, and supporting materials.


  • Experience with documentation workflows that use any of the following: HTML, CSS, Markdown, JSX/MDX, DITA, YAML, JSON, or HTML templates
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Familiarity with at least one current software development platform, such as web, JavaScript, iOS, Android, .NET, or Java
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Bachelor's or master's in GIS, computer science, technical writing, or related fields such as the physical or social sciences, depending on position level
